How do I book in?

The best way is to email us with a description of what you want, where you want it, how large in cm or inches (saying a medium sized tattoo is too vague),what style and whether you want it in colour or black and grey. Once we read the emails we assign the best artist for the job. We usually reply within a week and suggest you drop in so we can measure the area, have a bit of a chat and take a deposit (which, depending on the tattoo, is usually £50).

Deposits will roll over until, on the last session-it will be deducted from the final amount.

If you need to reschedule or cancel you must do it 5 days in advance to carry your deposit over to your new appointment.

Deposits are non refundable but can be transferred if you need to change your appointment.

If you are running late please let us know on the day- if you arrive any later than 20 minutes after your given time, the appointment will need to be rescheduled and the deposit will be lost.

How much does a tattoo cost?

We charge £90 per hour but the overall cost will depend on a number of factors- how large it will be, whether it is colour or black and grey, how well you sit, the placement of the tattoo (rib tattoos typically take longer than anywhere else) and the amount of detail in the design. The best way of getting a ballpark quote is to come in and chat with us about your ideas, or emailing us with the specific details of your tattoo idea.

How long will it take?

See above, although everyone’s skin is different so time will vary from person to person, it also depends on how well you can sit for it. If you take lots of breaks or move a lot it will take longer.

I want a tattoo by this artist but they have recommended I go to someone else – why?

We want you to get the best tattoo you could possibly get and therefore if we feel that someone else is more specialised in the style and subject matter that you’ve requested we will be honest and tell you. Tattooing is not just the medium of putting the tattoo on, the tattooists have their own artistic style and direction they want to work with. If you research your artist well, you will see something that resonates with you in their work and know if that is someone who is on the same wavelength and an artist you can trust with your design.

I have sent a message via the contact form and still haven't had a reply?

If you have sent a message via our contact form and have not had a reply straight away please give us a little more time.
Typically we respond to messages from our website within a week, but during busy periods sometimes it can take longer for us to respond.

Its nothing personal, honest!

Can you sketch something before I book in?

Sorry, but as we are so busy we will always take bookings and a deposit before we start the drawing process. Once you have booked in though, we usually draw things up a week or two in advance.

I want this exact tattoo that I’ve seen in a magazine/on a celeb/found on the internet…

I’m afraid our artists only do custom tattoos that they draw themselves; we want you to get a perfect tattoo unique to you! We can take your idea and redraw it in our styles so it’s still the same idea, but a one off custom piece.

I have a tattoo I want covering- can you do it?

Yes, we love doing cover ups! We usually will need to see the tattoo in question in person to see if it is possible. Sometimes we will recommend you have laser treatment (we have a specialist laser technician in house that can advise you on the next step) we won’t recommend it if you don’t need it. Certain subject matters can cover old tattoos better than others but we can discuss what you want the final result during a consultation.

How old do you have to be?

18, it is illegal to tattoo someone under the age of 18- no matter what. Any tattooist willing to tattoo a minor is not going to be a good artist or have great ethics, so they are best avoided! We have covered and lasered so many tattoos that people have gotten underage, sometimes because tastes have changed but mostly because the tattoos were so badly done the person has hated it almost immediately (but then had to wait until they were 18 to get it sorted by a decent artist!)

Can I pay by card?

We would typically prefer cash, however we do have a card machine, and can also take payments through PayPal.

Do I need to do/bring anything when I come in for my tattoo?

It is always best to bring your ID - If you are a new client and have not been tattooed here before, if asked for ID and it cannot be presented at that time, we may turn you away!

It’s best to be as comfortable as you can, we recommend wearing appropriate clothing that you won’t mind getting ink on (expensive/white garments are not a great idea!) Think about the placement of your tattoo. If you’re getting work on a sleeve, wearing a vest is useful. If its a rib/backpiece you might want to bring a cardigan you can wear backwards to keep warm. If its your legs, wear stretchy lounge pants etc.

Eat a good meal before you come in, It’s a good idea to bring snacks and a sugary drink too to keep your blood sugar up.

Does it hurt?

Yes, a little, depending on area and your pain tolerance. Overall I wouldn’t worry, it is nowhere near as bad as you think it will be but if you are really nervous about pain management then there are things you can buy. Most pharmacists’ stock EMLA or AMITOP creams and you can buy Dr. Numb from Amazon.

Do we take guest artists?

Yes we do take guest artists on in our studio, we normally take guests on for one or two weeks but we can discuss if need be. if you are interrested in guesting in our tattoo studio then please use the contact for provided or alternativly email us directly at electricladytattoos@gmail.com.
